Verse 1
Big wheels keep on turnin'
Carry me home to see my kin
Singin' songs about the Southland
I miss Alabamy once again, and I think it's a sin,
Verse 2
Well, I heard Mr. Young sing about her
Well, I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around, anyhow

Sweet home, Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet home, Alabama
Lord, I'm comin' home to you
Verse 3
In Birmingham, they love the governor (boo, boo, boo!)
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
Does your conscience bother you? Tell the truth
Chorus 2
Sweet home, Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet home, Alabama
Lord, I'm comin' home to you here I come Alabama
Solo 2
Ah Ah Ah Alabama
Ah Ah Ah Alabama
Ah Ah Ah Alabama
Ah Ah Ah Alabama
Verse 4
Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two (yes, they do)
Lord, they get me off so much
They pick me up when I'm feelin' blue, now, how 'bout you?
Chorus 3
Sweet home, Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet home, Alabama
Lord, I'm comin' home to you
Sweet home, Alabama old, sweet home
Where the skies are so blue (and the governor's true)
Sweet home, Alabama (Lord)
Lord, I'm comin' home to you Yea
Fun fact
The intro guitar riff of ”Sweet Home Alabama” is arguably one of the most famous and iconic guitar riffs of all time. It’s up there with ”Smoke on the water” and ”Stairway to heaven”! The song was released back in 1974 and instantly became a Southern rock anthem.
The song is in the key of G, but starts off on the V chord, which is D. The band is using a Cadd9 chord instead of a standard C major chord, and this makes the transition from the D chord, to the C chord and back to the tonic much easier. It also sounds great! Have fun playing ”Sweet Home Alabama”!
