Verse 1
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
PreChorus 1
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on
So, tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
Verse 2
I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
PreChorus 2
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on
So, tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
Chorus 1
And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So, why don't we go somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know
PreChorus 3
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on
So, tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
Chorus 2
And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
Outro
This could be the end of everything
So, why don't we go
So, why don't we go Ooh, oh-oh Ah, oh
This could be the end of everything
So, why don't we go somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?
Fun fact
”Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane was released in 2004, and has become a classic pop-song that is loved by fans all over the world.
The steady and elegant piano part creates a melancholic atmosphere which is a perfect match to Tom Chaplin’s emotive vocals.
The band has said in an interview that they were inspired by the song ”Heroes” by David Bowie, and wanted a song that had that drive and a ”rocking beat” throughout the track. This song was one of the first things that the band recorded on the album ”Hopes and Fears”. Have fun playing along!
